I've had a great experience at SDSS, and Dr. Shawn Bench. Everything has felt professional and organized from the very beginning. The staff is so friendly and makes the whole process a lot less stressful, and Dr. Bench always takes the time to explain everything clearly and answers all my questions. I also would thank the manager, Ms. Ericka Wendt! You can tell that the office is well managed and that a lot of care goes into making sure patients feel comfortable, informed and well taken care of. I would definitely recommend them, I felt like I was in very good hands!

My recent visit at San Diego Surgical Specialists was with Dr Ryan Barnes. The staff is amazing, friendly, and there was a recently hired person at the reception. The way the other 2 members at the reception area (don’t know the name of their roles) were very caring and kind to their new fellow co-worker as she learned and practiced, and I found that very telling. Now, on to the Doctor. We’d met briefly a year ago when I was in the hospital, and was recently referred to him for a consultation. We decided to proceed with the surgery, which is ‘elective’. PSA: elective doesn’t mean you don’t need it, it just means that it is not an absolute emergency such as when you arrive at the ER with a perforated gut. He is very nice. He listened to all my concerns and answered all my questions. He can be a little blunt and has a dry humor, but humor nonetheless. He’s funny, and we had a few laughs. He has so much he can tell you about what’s really relevant, and does not stop a lot to speak of what is irrelevant or of little concern, but he will tell you that. I really appreciated his very thorough and illustrative descriptions of exactly how the surgery will be done, how long it might take to get me on the schedule, how many days I’d be in the hospital, and how many weeks it would take me to get back to work (asked what type of job I do to be able to determine that). Moreover, I have been told by several doctors that he’s the best one around. So, all in all, fully recommended! I will seek to update my review after surgery, but I’m positive it will be even better 🙂

This week I had my initial consultation with Dr. Lori Uyeno, Surgeon. She was thorough, good-natured, understanding, and spent over one hour going over surgical options, post-op treatment, the particulars of my personal situation, and answered every question I had. I was impressed with this office. Vivian, the Medical Assistant, was equally thorough, answered questions, and made a somewhat nervous new patient feel comfortable. Overall, I rate this visit a "10" and am extremely pleased. I recommend this physician and her staff. Also, I am equally impressed with my team of Sharp doctors from multiple locations and their timely communication with each other and with me. We are all on the same page about my ongoing care and this means so much to me.

Dr. Bench did an awesome job repairing my umbilical hernia. I was in and out of the OR in about an hr. Dr Bench has incredible bed side manner. It’s obvious he cares deeply for his patients. On top of that he’s a great surgeon. All the staff at his office were very accommodating to my schedule. Very friendly. The OR staff were also top tier. Big thank you to my anesthesiologist , Dr Lennard who made feel very relaxed.

Dr. Mueller is a great surgeon that is attentive to his patients. I recently had a gastric sleeve. The entire process was done with his team. They are so caring and compassionate, they really took their time to make me understand the surgery, the diet and exercise required. I felt at ease and comfortable at every visit. I felt heard and understood by the entire staff. Day of surgery went very smooth the hospital staff were great. I had my own room and felt very comfortable after the surgery. I had an overall great experience and I am looking forward to keep working with Dr. Mueller and his team to see my overall transformation. I would say anyone who is interested in this procedure do not hesitate contact the office. Each person will be given individual attention and feel secure, leaving happy with any decision that they make.
