Scheduled appointment on December 9, 2025, with Doctor Steven Vela for pre colonoscopy review. I want to commend the admissions staff for their professionalism, respect and experienced check in so great. Also, the nurse associates that took me to the exam room and scheduled the colonoscopy date very courteous, professional and thorough. Additionally, I commend Doctor Steven Vela who examined me very experienced, courteous, thorough and very pleasant so great to have the very best when you need medical help. Doctor Vela also performed the colonoscopy which went very well. I say to everyone if you want the very best medical service make an appointment with Surgical Associates of Corpus Christi. PaulC

I had my gallbladder removed and a hernia repaired by Dr. Martin and it was such a success! I feel so fortunate to have recovered so quickly and been able to return back to my daily routine so well. Surgical Associates will be my “go to” for anything in the future.

Went in for acid reflux(gerd) and hemorrhoid because medication don't work. Dr dye discussed procedure, treatment if any, and I should be good. Dr dye said he didn’t find anything expect a couple of pullups. explain my GERD ACID REFLUX I’VE HAD ALL MY LIFE. Dr says he didn't find anything. Then explain my gerd. You mentioned laser treatment thru this procedure to close the membrane that releases the acid but you never did. In fact you just dismissed, Without explaining why my acid is still bothering me like you already got my money now it’s time to go. I’m going back to theVA trying this again until someone finds the cause of my Gerd. I’M BACK TO SQUARE ONE WITH MY STOMACH ACID. They JUST WANT YOUR MONEY. They discharged me while I was still groggy without wheelchair. There's the door you're free to go. Things were still attached to my chest. LMAO THAT'S CORPORATE FOR YA.

Although the MDs we saw were very personable it does not override the fact that this is the worst , moat inefficient functioning office. Two visits in 2 weeks both with minimum waiting room wait time of greater than 2 hours. It is so ridiculous that patients who were in obvious extreme pain had to sit there and endure such delays in care. Staff mentioned They plan to expand with additional providers but currently can’t handle what they have in a timely manner. Might want to look at better office management. Very bad attitudes from front desk staff if you inquire on expectations to be seen. Horrible - just horrible! Do better.

*1 Star - Unprofessional Staff, Lost Referrals, Months of Delays for Urgent Care** I am writing this review to warn other patients about the treatment I received from the scheduling staff at Surgical Associates of Corpus Christi, specifically those working with Dr. Victor Ortiz. **Timeline of Events:** I have been suffering from gallbladder issues and have been trying to schedule a consultation since **August 2025**. It is now **November 2025** - three months later - and I still have not been able to get an appointment. **What Happened:** - My PCP submitted multiple referrals via fax. The office claims they never received them, though my PCP confirmed they were sent. - After being told the referrals weren’t received, I personally hand-delivered a copy of my referral to their office. I was told someone would call me back to schedule. **They never called.** - When I followed up a month later, I was told they **lost the referral I had physically brought to them**. - I had yet another referral sent. More back and forth ensued. **The Treatment I Received:** Throughout this entire process, the scheduling staff have been consistently **rude, dismissive, and nasty** on every phone call. They treated me as if I was an inconvenience rather than a patient in need of medical care. Their tone and attitude made it clear they did not want to help me. The frustration and disrespect became so overwhelming that I broke down in tears multiple times. My husband eventually had to take over communications because I couldn’t handle being spoken to that way anymore while dealing with ongoing pain. Even my PCP’s office reported that the staff at this practice were difficult and unprofessional to work with. **The Final Straw:** When I went to the office in person to try to resolve this, **one of the nurses or physicians actually laughed at me** because of the referral issues I was experiencing. Being mocked while trying to get treatment for a painful medical condition is unacceptable. **My Message:** Out of sheer exhaustion and despair, I told them I would just wait until my gallbladder explodes - maybe then they’d see me. That’s how defeated this experience has made me feel. **To Dr. Ortiz:** If you are reading this, please know that your front desk staff are actively preventing patients from receiving care. They are costing you patients and damaging your reputation. More importantly, they are causing real harm to people who are already suffering. The people you have hired to represent your practice need serious retraining or replacement. **To Other Patients:** If you have other options for surgical care in Corpus Christi, I strongly encourage you to explore them. Do not subject yourself to this level of disrespect and incompetence when you are already dealing with health issues. I am now seeking care elsewhere and would advise others to do the same.
