Dr. Mayo and her staff are always friendly. Dr. Mayo is attentive, offers options and explains the procedures thoroughly. UAB as a teaching hospital utilizes residents and their reccomendations are always appreciated and thoughtful. Dr. Mayo is patient to explain the residents decision making and offers the best care for your treatment. The appointment wait time for Dr. Mayo is lengthy at 3-6 months but she is worth the wait.

Dr. Mayo is a talented professional who takes the time to listen to your concerns, evaluate your situation, and recommend solutions. She's very personable and makes you feel like she's really interested in your situation and wants to help. However, the person at the front desk doesn't represent Dr. Mayo very well. Doesn't say "hello" or anything when you approach, doesn't fully answer the simplest questions, and just doesn't demonstrate basic customer service skills. She does not represent Dr. Mayo or her practice very well.

Dr. Fortugno is absolutely great. If he was a GP, I wouldn’t ever go anywhere else. Dr. Kissel is great as well. I can’t imagine anywhere providing better care than I’ve received. All of the staff that I met were awesome — super polite and nobody seems like they are in a hurry to get rid of you. I live two hours away, but will continue to come here, just due to the level of care provided.

I have been visiting for a year I found out I had aleopica, I have received steroids shots in scalp, oral medications, and compound creams I used twice a day for almost eight months. The aleopica got worse, the last white doc I saw was very rude and sarcastic towards me, basically telling my hair will fall out anyway. She decided not give me the usual steroids shots, no creams or oral medications. In that result my hair is balding very quickly. Please! If your are black and have issue with your hair or skin don’t see any white doctors to treat you. I complain to the patient advocate, and the only thing I got was an apology twice. I recently opt out from going back, and found me a black female dermatologist

I saw a resident who was very nice. When she brought in the doctor that she works under, later in the visit, I was dumbfounded at the doctor ‘s lack of professionalism. She entered the room all smiles and told me that she was the best around at what she did. When I tried to ask questions she immediately turned into a very sarcastic, condescending woman and said if I didn’t like what she had to say that there are other doctors that can help me and that she had just told another patient the same thing that morning. This woman needs to retire because her bedside manner was repulsive. It disturbs me that someone like this person is mentoring our future doctors with her shockingly dreadful attitude. She was two completely different people in less than a minute’s time. I believe that she is the one who needs to find a doctor that can help her. I want to reiterate that the resident was very professional and kind.
