Dr. Cusimano is truly exceptional. I wish I could give him a million stars! He embodies everything I would want in a surgeon: kindness, patience, compassion, as well as possessing expert training, credentials, and experience. During my initial consultation, I immediately knew that I could trust Dr. Cusimano. I felt that he actually listened and was on the same page as to what I wanted, which he delivered beautifully! I had my implants since 2005, and after a baby, nursing, and gravity taking over, I was left with two asymmetrical, deflated breasts. I was so unhappy with them that I didn't even like to see myself without a bra on. Dr. Cusimano performed a breast lift and augmentation, replacing the old saline with new silicone gel implants. I am absolutely thrilled beyond belief with the results! I had zero complications, and each day they continue to look more amazing! The entire process from consultation to post-op follow-up appointments has been a breeze. I love his office manager, Kristin, and nurse, Katie! They are his right-hand women, and they made this experience seamless every step of the way between scheduling appointments, labs, pre-op teaching, etc. They have shared in my excitement of finally doing this for myself, which made it even more special. Dr. Cusimano is a perfectionist and is truly passionate about what he does. He combines his expert skill and artistic ability to transform a vision into reality. Even after my surgery, I continue to feel 100% supported by him and his staff during my healing process. They have gone above and beyond my expectations, and he has given me new breasts that I love!

Dr Cusimano is an amazing surgeon. I drove from Shreveport so he could fix and finish what my plastic surgeon had started. After a cancer diagnosis a bilateral mastectomy was done. Three surgeries later due to complications the Shreveport surgeon would t finish. Dr Cusimano stepped in and worked a miracle.

The office staff at Cusimano Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery are the best team I've ever experienced at a doctors office. They answered the phone every time I called, and responded to emails within the day any time I had an update or question along my healing journey. They are effortlessly communicative with the patients and put all of my worries to ease at every turn. Dr. Cusimano is amazing, his work is as close to perfection as I could have expected. His confidence level in his work, the process and my healing path calmed my worries at every visit. He was always available for after hour calls during my post surgery recovery period.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer, I believed I was making empowered decisions about my reconstruction. The Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA) gives women the legal right to breast reconstruction following a mastectomy, and at the time, it felt like I had "options." But what I’ve come to realize is that these so-called options can be a carefully constructed illusion—one that some plastic surgeons use to prey on women when they are at their most vulnerable. I trusted Dr. Cusimano and Dr. Theunissen to help restore my body and my sense of self. I underwent a DIEP flap reconstruction, which failed. This led to an abscess in my left breast and significant damage to my abdomen that required hernia repair and reattachment of a damaged muscle. When the DIEP failed, I was recommended the latissimus dorsi flap, which has left me with chronic pain and permanent loss of range of motion. These surgeries have not improved my life—they’ve altered it in ways I never could have imagined. The physical and emotional cost has been enormous. What was offered to me as help and healing turned into years of additional suffering. I’m sharing my experience because I want other women to be fully informed. Just because something is legally available doesn’t mean it is the right choice for you—or that the people offering it have your best interests at heart. Ask every question, get independent opinions, and don’t let anyone pressure you into surgery just because you’re scared or searching for a way to feel whole again. Your vulnerability should never be a business opportunity.
