So I went to a consultation with Dr. Chang due to I have to have a Breast Reduction because I lost a lot of weight. He was warm and answered ALL AND I MEAN ALL of my question and I had a lot. I will be getting the Breast Reduction and a Tummy Tuck done in Nov of this year.. I have to pay for my TT myself and the insurance will cover my breast reduction.

I love Mercy hospital. I had a panniectomy on 1/27. I'm very satisfied with my results. Thank you Dr Chang. I also love the anesthesiologists that work on that floor, good job. I will be back in a couple of years to get a BR. 🙂

I love Dr. Chang and his staff. I just had a Diep-Flap Reconstruction and he is simply amazing! I am healing very well. I know in my heart it is because I was careful in choosing the best doctors for me. I had mentioned on my Facebook that I was having this done and several women sent me private messages stating they had same or similar procedures done with Dr. Chang and that they believe I was in great hands. Also, my sister called me and said her friend as well had this procedure done with Dr. Chang and was happy I was using him. Nothing but love for Mercy Medical and their doctors. Also Dr. Neil Friedman was my breast surgeon at Mercy Medical, and he is absolutely amazing as well. Take your time and choose the right doctors. I did and I am on the road to recovery fast because of it.

Hands down the best experience I have ever had.. the staff for the consult were great. I had a breast reduction and a panniculectomy. My results are amazing and I'm only a few months out. Dr. Chang is the master of plastic surgery!!

I have noticed that several previous one star reviews for Chang and harm certain women claim he caused are no longer visible. As a patient who has experienced significant harm elsewhere, it is deeply concerning to feel that negative experiences may be disappearing rather than being addressed. When women speak up about medical harm, their voices deserve to be heard, not minimized. I came into this consultation with a very complicated history involving prior breast mesh complications, necrosis, explants, and about 7 to 9 previous breast surgeries. It has been traumatic and I have lost count. The number is very high and it has been a living nightmare, with significant surgical damage from a previous surgeon at Penn State. I was left with severe asymmetry and the loss of my left nipple, and much more. This was not cosmetic dissatisfaction. This was devastating physical, lifelong disfigurement, while still holding some hope for reconstruction with Chang. I felt massively dismissed by Chang. I was told that if I were to move forward with Chang it would be “one and done.” Given the complexity of my case, that “one and done” approach felt unrealistic and lacking in compassion. Compassion is something Chang has received awards for. However, during my consultation it did not feel present. He did not acknowledge the layered reconstructive challenges involved or the trust that would need to be rebuilt after prior harm. I explained that I would likely need 3 or more surgeries. Chang continued to insist on one. It was post covid and very busy, and he did not appear concerned about the complexity of my case. He didn't even care if I had a ni p ple to my left breast. I repeated the phrase “one and done” during the conversation to emphasize how concerning that approach felt to me, and he repeated it back to me unflinching. No compassion. The consultation environment itself was also difficult. Being placed in a room with extremely loud cancer related videos playing, videos I have seen many times before, added unnecessary emotional strain. For patients with medical trauma, sensitivity to surroundings matters. When I asked straightforward questions about insurance coverage, the response from the surgical scheduler felt unprofessional and intimidating. Instead of answering clearly, she repeatedly responded with visible irritation... she glared. Each time I asked a question she appeared unable to answer regarding my insurance coverage, and the response was silence or visible frustration... she glared. I also felt her office environment appeared disorganized and not appropriate for patient discussions. Patients should never feel uncomfortable asking about financial responsibility... as she glares. Overall, I left feeling disrespected and unheard. I was shocked by the lack of compassion during the consultation and by the behavior from the scheduler. Compassion in surgical care is not about awards or titles. It is about how patients are treated. I believed compassion was necessary to receive a compassion award, but ***my experience suggested otherwise.*** I don't believe Chang saw me a fellow human. The consultation with Chang was deeply disturbing. At least 20% of these 5 star reviews are from accounts that only have 1 review to their name, which makes me question their authenticity.
