USA visitor to Isla Mujeres had to come here for my wife’s chronic cough. Not sure if it was because of the quality of our health insurance, but the care here was top notch. Modern facilities - better than we have seen in the U.S. in quite some time. State of the art imaging facilities - xray and MRI. All doctors and most nurses fluent in English. Very attentive and thorough care. Stayed overnight and received several respiratory therapies. Hospital Room was like a hotel room, with smart tv, private bathroom, and a convertible sofa for a family member. Only advice is to advocate for yourself when it comes time to discharge. Seems like the nurses are stuck between patients ready/able to leave and doctors very busy with other patients. The front desk staff can do wonders if you ask them to advocate for you. Would definitely return here if needed while in Cancun.

I had a health crisis while on vacation in Isla Mujeres. Transferred to Quirurgica for treatment and care. Very good experience. Care was excellent. I was discharged after 24 hours and I am following up in the United States. I was a patient on the 4th floor. Thank you. NML

If I could give 0 stars I would. I experienced a medical emergency while staying in Isla Mujeres in June where I was then taken to this hospital in Cancun. While trying to place an IV, my veins were stuck, dug through, abused over TWENTY TIMES all the while the nurses talking bad about me in Spanish because I was crying out in immense pain and distress (I may be an American tourist, but I know Spanish thank you very much). I certainly understand being in a different country that there are different medical standards, but there should not be any different standards in treating humans with empathy and care.

WARNING!!!!! You will die!!! My son needed emergency medical treatment while on vacation. we ended up here by a recommendation of a local friend. I am appalled by the "services" that he received and was told the only way to save his life, was to allow emergency surgery. after seeing how they executed minor medical tasks, i knew i had to get him out of there asap!!! Before they would examine or provide treatment, you had to go to the desk and pay for it. We ended up chartering a private flight back to the U.S because there were no commercial flights available. It was a very serious medical diagnosis but no surgery was required. we were told that the surgery they deemed life saving at quirúrgica del sur, would have ended tragically. he would have died!!!! *photos show the results of an I.V.

My sister with her husband who was patient of this hospital and stayed there a couple of days. Mexican service is very slow I can say and expensive for tourists. You at first must to pay big money and then the staff will do the procedures. The awful thing was that at night the staff refused my family to stay in the room with reason that they can’t do more for patient and asked my relatives to leave the hospital. At night… where they should go at this late time? The patient (sister’s husband) can’t move by himself as he doesn’t feel his legs due to neurological problems. Is it possible such service and attitude to foreigners. I can say if you are another nationality and have no enough money - then you will die for sure or will be left outside. As no one there will be thinking about you. I can’t recommend them as they don’t know what is human attitude.
